Overview
Our baristas at Pax & Beneficia play the most crucial role in our daily operations. Responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, they prioritize exceptional hospitality while maintaining cleanliness and organization in the coffee bar. Although experience is not required, all baristas become ambassadors of specialty coffee learning the basis of extraction principles and a variety of brew methods. Accurate order processing, friendly interactions with customers, and proactive communication regarding inventory needs are all part of their responsibilities. Additionally, they assist with kitchen and bar prep tasks, ensuring compliance with food safety guidelines for a hygienic work environment. You are a 'Experience Curator', if you may. Hourly Pay
- 11.75/hr -12.25/hr + Tips ($6/hr Average); DOE
Key Responsibilities
- Become educated in specialty coffee standards in extraction and a variety of brew methods: pour over, flash brew, and espresso
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar and equipment. Executing daily and weekly cleaning tasks, as well as a weekly deep clean of the cafe
- Accurately process orders and handle transactions with situational awareness
- Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, answering questions and making recommendations as needed - focusing on hospitality
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, and communicate need for orders
- Prepare in-house bar & kitchen items, prepping as needed
- Follow food safety guidelines and maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, filling out and executing on daily & weekly checklists
Requirements
- Weekend availability
- Compensation is commensurate with previous specialty coffee experience
- Previous experience in food & beverage or in a customer service role is preferred, but not required
- Texas or National Food Handlers license (required after employment)
- Friendly, caring, and a heart to serve (A MUST)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds
